August Back to School Newsletter

Many thanks to parents who have booked places with us for the new term starting 13 September.

We’re delighted to see so many of you returning and lots of new pupils joining us too.

For those who have already booked, we are working frantically drumming up interest and more bookings so that our language classes can go ahead as planned.

To help with this we have extended our 5% early bird reduction until 23 August, so please spread the word and forward this email to friends and family who may be interested in joining us.

In addition, we’d be delighted if anyone would share our little posts on parents groups at school to help spread the word.  We will be in touch with you by text to ask if you are happy to do this.

Individual class Whatsapp groups will be set up week 30 August in order to keep you updated on progress with pupil numbers and location of your class.

We’re still in limbo with St Patrick’s Centre for some of our face to face classes, but we have a fall back option which is to run all our classes from Exam Focus, Burnaby Buildings (above 11 Deli) as this centre is operating in the educational sector.  We will keep you informed.

And last but not least, we’re delighted to be launching a new class for 11-13 year olds (6th class, 1st years).  We have recognised for some time that these important adolescents really need a class of their own, so voilà, it’s available NOW (learn more)

Don’t miss out, book your place soon to avoid disappointment

We’re looking forward to our new term

Pandemic doesn’t stop local teacher from celebrating

Eight years ago this month, Georgia set up the first out of school French classes for local children in Greystones and Delgany. A small room at the local Parish Centre was the venue where a handful of children, as young as five years old, wanted to see what it was all about.

As word got around, how much fun learning French was and due to demand, Georgia added more and more classes and venues to her timetable as well as introducing Spanish.

Fast forward to today and Georgia’s language school, Greystones Languages for Children, is thriving. Not even the Pandemic has stopped her teaching and her students from continuing with their bilingual journey.

Georgia says, “It’s hard to believe that we have been teaching French and Spanish in Greystones for eight years. It is brilliant to be able to offer language classes in our community and to see children developing great linguistic skills from such an early age.

“Young children have a wonderful advantage in that they pick up languages with ease. When they are exposed to language in an engaging and interactive way, they learn so much more in this pressure free environment.

“Learning then becomes a thoroughly positive experience and by the time the child begins secondary school their foundation of language learning will provide them with a significant head start.”

When the first lockdown happened, schools and venues closed, and all classes ceased. Against all the odds stacked against her, Georgia was determined to keep her students bilingual journey moving, so instead of cancelling classes, she simply took them online.

“Although nothing beats face to face teaching, my online classes are working really well. As well as benefiting from continued learning, my students have really enjoyed working together and seeing their classmates on screen. This week we all celebrated Greystones eight-year birthday virtually, we played fun games and sang songs plus, we even had a cake.”

Georgia Celebra Huit Birthday!

In these slightly panicky pandemic times, it’s a joy to see a business that is not only surviving but thriving.

Such is the case with Greystones Languages for Children, celebrating its eight birthday this year.

With Georgia Gallagher helping make the next generation fluent in both French and Spanish, it’s clear the woman loves her work.

And so do all those happy, smart, bi-lingual kids.

Here’s the lowdown…
